Sometimes it’s better to push when you really want to pull
Why Tailwheel?
Tailwheel is how you describe a plane with a wheel in the tail rather than in the nose. It’s how you’d think of an old plane, like a Spitfire.

When you are on the ground in a tailwheel plane, you can’t see what’s in front of you. You have to weave from side to side to see clearly what’s ahead.
When you are ready to start the take off roll, you open the throttle, trust that ahead is clear and when the time is right, push the stick forward.
This is not natural.
Pushing the stick forward makes the nose go down, not up, so the instinct is to do the opposite.
When you do the right thing and push the stick forward, the nose drops and you can suddenly see clearly, the tail lifts, the speed picks up and finally you can ease back on the stick and you are flying.
The way ahead is not always clear and sometimes we have to do the opposite of what feels natural. And just maybe someone will invent a better way, like putting the wheel at the front, not the tail, and you will always be able to see and do things more simply.
Tailwheel feels appropriate for us, because we want to help to you to get into the air with the least amount of drama.
